The first round of the Investec Women's Trophy was played at Deer Park School in Cirencester this Sunday.
A mix of Marlborough 1s, 2s and 3s took on the Cirencester 1st team. A delay due to the goal keepers car breaking down meant Marlborough started slowly, and some nifty one twos down the field put the Marlborough goal under pressure. It didn't take long before Marlborough found their form and Alex C-J netted a flick into the top of the goal. Marlborough attacked well and made good their chances, Alex finding the backboard in a perfectly executed straight strike from a short corner. The half ended 2-0 Marlborough.
Marlborough came out strongly in the 2nd half and although play was being fought out in midfield, it wasn't long before Alex made a hat trick. Cirencester finally made good on their attacks by netting a goal but it was too little to late. Alex wasn't finished putting away one more goal before the whistle went. A great performance all round, with a number of players making their debut in the 1s.
Marlborough will face City of Bath (Away) in the 2nd round, to take place on Sunday the 23rd of November.
